Traiter Angel

Thanks to author David Blalock for stopping by the Cotton Patch on his blog tour and giving us this great character post.

Synopsis:

In Traitor Angel, the second book of the Angelkiller Triad, the war between The Army of Light and The Enemy continues behind the scenes. Unknown to the general population, the battle for control of humanity is heating up.

Jonah Mason, called Angelkiller, faces more than one decision. His Army resistance cell is wounded physically and emotionally, on the brink of falling apart. The mysterious allies calling themselves Knights are pressuring him to abandon his people. Meanwhile, the world outside draws closer to Armageddon.

As Mason and his friends pursue their campaign against Dorian Azrael's global megacorporation, Andlat Enterprises, the stakes get higher with each desperate foray into the enemy's computers. They are fated to lose one of their number and gain an unlikely ally, but any advantage they gain could be fleeting at best.

If they fail, it could mean the end of The Army and all resistance to the forces of Darkness.

CHARACTER POST - Janice Meeker writes to Ella, her friend in Amsterdam
Dear Ella,
I know it's been a while since I wrote. There has been so much going on, and I wish I could tell you everything but there isn't enough time. I just wanted to let you know I'm well and with Stephen. Stephen and I are going through a little rough patch right now (I know, you told me so!) but I'm sure we'll get through it.
I guess the real reason I'm writing is because I've met a man named Andrew and that has caused the trouble with Stephen. Ella, he's not like anyone I've ever met before. He's good looking and smart, but different from Stephen. It's as if there's a darkness around him that makes me shiver but makes him interesting, too, you know? I mean, Stephen's got that sadness in him from the Mexico thing, but whatever it is that Andrew is keeping inside is a lot darker than that. I've been trying to get him to talk about it, but he avoids the subject.
As for the rest of the group, Mason is as distant as ever. He never looks at me with anything but a kind of fatherly amusement. He gives me the impression he thinks I'm just a kid who's along for the ride instead of a full member of the group. It can get really annoying. Tripp has taken to drinking too much. He spends a lot of time sleeping. I don't think he's going to be with us much longer. Martin and Populus are burying themselves in those computers. I like them. They are the only ones of this group that seem anywhere close to normal. Malthusan just stares a lot at me and Jaelon. He gives me the creeps.
Jaelon is really interesting, though. She has that air of someone who's spent a lot of time traveling and never wants to settle down, know what I mean? I like listening to her voice. She has a neat accent, kind of soft and sweet at once. Not like Malthusan. He sounds like he hates to talk, and as far as I'm concerned that's fine. I think he's got a thing for Jaelon, but Jaelon won't give him a turn and that sours him more every day. Not that I blame Jaelon. I just wonder why she lets him stay around. She is the leader of the Knights, after all.
Well, guess I better close this now. Even though I won't be sending this because it would be a terrible breach of security, I needed to put it down on paper, if for nothing else than my own sanity.
Take good care of yourself, Ella. I'll see you again someday, I hope.
Your friend,
Janice
