EVE HALLOWS AND THE BOOK OF SHRIEKS (BOOK 1)

For fourteen-year-old Eve Hallows, life can be summed up in one word—horrible.  She has the most horrible friends.  She lives in a horrible old castle.  Even her family is a bunch of horrible monsters.

However, in the monster-inhabited world of Gravesville—a world where messages are sent through Ouija boards, jack-o’-lanterns get facials to suit their moods, and the worst thing Eve has to deal with are those annoying zombie tourists who overrun her favorite graveyard during the Halloween season—horrible means wonderful.  And everything for Eve is perfectly horrible.

But her life is about to go head over heels when a mysterious group known as The Source starts terrorizing Gravesville.  Now she must move to the human world—where everything is opposite ... and for Eve, that's absolutely adorable!

I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.

What a fun read! This has all the ingredients for a fun middle-grade age Halloween read: monsters and ghouls and pizza oh my! Eve is a 14 year old girl that has been raised by monsters her entire life. She sees herself as one of them instead of a scary human. When someone starts murdering monsters her and her family pack up and move to the human world where Eve has to not only fit in but solve the mystery so she can go back home.

This is a great read for kids of all ages. Full of funny monsters, adventure, and mystery it keeps your attention til the very end. Eve is a great character. She stays strong even though she has to move to a new school and finds she is very different from the rest of the students there.

Overall, a great, fun read perfect for any age.

EVE HALLOWS AND THE BOOK OF SHADOWS (BOOK 2)

Ever since encountering The Source and its minions on Halloween, Eve Hallows has found life surprisingly quiet … not to mention adorably boring!  So when Dad receives a Ouija message that she must return to Gravesville, Eve couldn't be happier—at least until she discovers the Director of URNS, also known as the Grim Reaper, has a special job for Eve … one that will lead her to New York City and to the true identity of The Source.

With The Book of Shrieks offering zero help and a new URNS agent driving the school boys—and Eve!—crazy, Eve's beginning to realize this whole saving-the-world nonsense isn't what it's cracked up to be.

All this and she still has to find The Book of Shadows....

I recieved a free copy of this book for my honest review.

Book 2 of the Eve Hallows books is even better than the first. This second book pics up right where the first one left off. After having found the Book of Shrieks, Eve is called back to Gravesville for a meeting with the Director of URNS (AKA the Grim Reaper). Upon returning home, she finds that she is no longer welcome and war is looming. Thence her adventure begins.

I love all the characters in the Hallows world. Eve is such a strong female character. She is working hard to fit into the human world but even when she doesn't quite succeed she doesn't let it get to her. She never quits she just brushes it off. Her parents are great, a shapshifter and a gorgon, who have sacrificed a lot for their adopted daughter. And the werepig wolf is awesome as well. Eve has found some wonderful friends that take everything in stride and stand by her thru everything.

These are such fun reads. And even though Book of Shadows can be read alone, its even better after having read Book of Shrieks. Perfect for middle grade age, or any age that just likes to enjoy a fun read. Love these books.
